This article examines an ACPO-led working group which has been set up to re-examine legislation covering telephone and e-mail interception and surveillance and make proposals for changes in the law. It also looks at the Home Office internal review of the Interception of Communications Act which the police hope will "make telephone tapping easier." The article finishes with a quotation from a senior police officer who admits that: "In the UK we do more interception than the FBI."
