France: CNIL website section, "Discover how you are
tracked on the Internet"
On personal data protection day, held on Sunday 28 January 2007,
the French Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés
(CNIL, National Commission on IT and Freedoms), an official institution
responsible for monitoring the respect of legality and liberties
in the IT field and in databases, has launched a section of its
website entitled "Discover how you are being tracked on
the Internet". It looks at different ways in which this
tracking may take place, providing a demonstration and some discussion
concerning the possible implications of these practices.
