EU-Cape Verde: The EU signed a visa facilitation agreement with Cape Verde on 26 October

The EU signed a visa facilitation agreement with Cape Verde on 26 October (14203/12 and 14203/12 COR 1).

It should enter into force by summer 2013 once it has been adopted by the European Parliament (see press release).

Visa facilitation for short stay-visas was conditioned upon the conclusion of a readmission agreement in the framework of the Mobility Partnership signed by Cape Verde with the EU in 2008. The visa facilitation agreement thus suggests there have been positive developments in the ongoing negotiations for a readmission agreement between the EU and Cape Verde.
