The Council of the EU is moving towards adopting its position on the audiovisual media services Directive, according to a recent document obtained by Statewatch.
See: Proposal for a Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council amending Directive 2010/13/EU on the coordination of certain provisions laid down by law, regulation or administrative action in Member States concerning the provisions of audiovisual media services in view of changing market realities (First Reading) - General approach(8572/17, LIMITE, 5 May 2017, pdf):
"Coreper now has the task of preparing this file with a view to agreeing a general approach at the EYCS Council on 22 - 23 May 2017. With this in mind the Presidency has prepared a new text, which responds to the concerns expressed by delegations on the three main issues at the Coreper meeting of 26 April 2017 and seeks to find a balanced compromise between the different positions. This text can be found in the Annex with the most recent changes indicated in italics bold underlined and […]."
The text principally contains changes on: the extension of scope to video-sharing platforms and jurisidction and cooperation procedures.
