The Council recently approved its negotiating position on two of the key measures that are part of the Pact on Migration and Asylum, but it's not over yet.

Last week the Council approved its negotiating position on the Asylum Procedure Regulation and the Asylum and Migration Management Regulation. As ECRE have highlighted, there is a lot of bad news in those negotiating positions.
Discussions are ongoing on other measures that are part of the Pact, including the crisis and force majeure Regulation, designed to enable massive derogations from the law in situations deemed to be a "crisis" (the word "derogation" features 27 times in the 15 pages of the latest text).
The Presidency's latest compromise text (pdf) will be discussed by the secretive JHA Counsellors (Asylum) working party tomorrow:
"For the purpose of discussions in the JHA Counsellors (Asylum) on 16 June 2023, delegations will find in the Annex a Presidency compromise text on the above-mentioned proposal."
