Status: Decision on 7 December 2021
Following an application by journalist for documents detaiing expenditure from 2016-19 on the annual "European Border and Coast Guard Day", Frontex granted access to limited, mostly redacted documents, invoking the exception of protection of commercial interests.
The Ombudsman's decision upheld the overriding public interest in greater access to the documents, recommending that Frontex release information on the expenditure for food and entertainment, which the agency followed.
