This observatory, launched in partnership with the European Group on Deviance and Social Control, provides an online archive detailing the measures that governments in Europe and elsewhere have taken since March 2020 to control the coronavirus pandemic. It also provides information on reports looking at the impact on civil liberties of measures ostensibly taken to control the pandemic, and links to other relevant resources.
We are working to add new material to update current entries, add new ones and provide links to other reading on how government responses to the pandemic have affected civil liberties and increased state powers.
We welcome contributions on countries for which we do not currently have entries; or further information on those countries for which we do. Get in touch to help.
