Status still in force; validity upheld by Court of Justice (Case C-170/96 Commission v Council [1998] ECR I-2763); replacement Joint Action proposed in 1998 but not adopted; replacement Regulation proposed in 1999 (see SEMDOC Legislative Observatory) but not adopted; replaced by EC visas code with effect from the code’s application date, probably Feb. 2010 (see see SEMDOC Legislative Observatory): Joint Action 96/197/JHA
