Proposal from Greece (Council doc. 7655/03, 20 Mar. 2003)
Background replaces existing Annex 12 to CCI and Annex 14a to Common Manual; sets standard rate of 35 euro for consideration of all short-stay visa applications and also takes account of Decision 44/2002 establishing fees for considering visa applications (rather than for issuing visas)
Schengen builds on Schengen acquis
Flexibility UK & Ireland opted out; Denmark has six months to opt in in international law
EP no role as this is an implementing measure (see Regs. 789/2001 and 790/2001)
Council adopted as ‘A’ point by Environment Council, 13 June 2003: Decision 2003/454/EC
Entry into force 1 July 2005 at the latest (Art. 2)
