Alison Halford gets public hearing
artdoc July=1991

Top policewoman Alison Halford has won the right to have her
sex discrimination case against the Merseyside police held
in a public industrial tribunal instead of behind closed
doors.
Merseyside Chief Constable Jim Sharples, who is himself
facing sex discrimination charges, attempted to have the
hearing held privately. He also tried unsuccessfully to get
a member from the panel removed for impartiality. (Times
12.1.91; Independent 19.1.91; Guardian 22.1.91)
