The Benefit Agency is setting up a computer database to register
all people found guilty or suspected of fraud of social security
benefits. It is planned as a pilot project in London but is
likely to be extended. The project has been developed in
conjunction with local authorities and will be accessible by all
local authority designated fraud offices. It will also be open
to all benefit agency staff engaged in the prevention and
investigation of fraud.
