Police Rev, 28 Feb 1986 95(4852) pp462-464

A police officer with former military service and experience of
firearms instruction in both the police and the army, argues that
policeman should not carry automatic weapons while on duty because
they are insufficiently trained in the use and deployment of such
weapons. Anti terrorist activities are the province of the army,
and the police put both themselves and the public at risk by
becoming involved.
