Conservative Party Chairman dismisses Bishop's claim over police

A claim by Bishop David Jenkins of Durham, in the Channel 4
`Credo' television programme on Saturday that Government
policies were leading to a kind of police state, were dismissed
as "stupid" yesterday by John Gummer, Conservative Party
Chairman and a member of the Church of England Synod.
