Mr. Tom Clarke: To ask the Secretary of state for the,
Home Department when the first seizure of crack was made in
the United Kingdom; and how much has seized to date.

Mr. Waddington: The first seizure of crack recorded by
the national drugs intelligence unit was in l986, although
it is possible that earlier seizures were made but reported
as of cocaine. The total numbers of seizures of crack
recorded so far are as follows:
