Some organisations are attempting to gain back-door access to
police records and there is constant pressure for the extension
of vetting arrangements. Such pressures are raising issues of
legitimate concern to employers and of adequate safeguards for
the rights of individuals. These issues are to be considered in
the next few months by the Data Protection Registrar.
