Fifteen Pakistanis who were arrested on the night of 4-5 June suspected of links with al-Qaida as they arrived on a Romanian ship were released by a judge in Caltanissetta on 24 June. The suspects were arrested on the basis of testimony by one of the Romanian crew members who claimed that he heard them talking between themselves, and that they were Taliban, although he didn't speak their language, Urdu. The 15 have been taken to a detention centre awaiting expulsion.
