The Deputy Under Secretary of State (Procurement) at the Ministry of Defence outlines the exciting possibilities for the UK and EC defences industries which is being co-ordinated by the Independent European Programme Group (IEPG) Ministers. The article discusses the "harmonisation" of the EC defence industries and the need for export sales out of Europe and NATO to the Third World to compensate for cuts in arms sales in the home countries.
