Germany: Nazi leader jailed (1)

The leader of the German neo-nazi Nationalistiche Front (NF) was jailed for 27 months, at a Dortmund court, in November 1995. Two other NF committee members were sentenced to 10 months in prison. Meinhoff Schonborn was imprisoned for continuing to run the NF three years after it was banned in 1992, following police raids on its offices that uncovered weapons, ammunition and bomb making material. Following the ban Schonborn continued to run a flourishing business in fascist NF material from his home. Sentencing Schonborn judge Manfred Reichel expressed amazement that the police had ignored the nazi leader's activities over the past three years. International Herald Tribune, 9.11.95.
