Frankfurt police criticised after strip-search

The Romani Union in Frankfurt have protested at the treatment of
one of its members by police. Police were called in by
controllers of the Frankfurt subway, who asked Mr. Pohl for
identification after his ticket was found to have expired. The
normal procedure would have been a fine, but Mr. Pohl found
himself taken to a police station and strip-searched.
The Romani Union also points out that although Mr. Pohl was born
and raised in Germany, the German authorities have refused his
application for citizenship (Romnews no. 19, 19.7.94).
