Juveniles allege attack by Hackney police
artdoc April=1992

Hackney Community Defence Association and Brian Sedgemore MP have
called for a public inquiry into an incident where three young
black boys were chased by the police across Hackney Marshes.
According to the boys, aged between 13 and 14, they were
returning home from a party when they were attacked by police
officers investigating a broken car window. One boy was so
frightened that he jumped into the canal. Another says he was
punched in the face, and a third says he was truncheon whipped
on the head, back and shoulders. The boy's mother had to take him
to hospital. He complained of losing his vision and was off
school for a week. (Caribbean Times 31.7.90)
