Leyton youth accuses police of vendetta
artdoc July=1991

An 18-year old black youth from Leyton is accusing local
police of a vendetta against him after being arrested
thirteen times in the past year. None of the arrests has
resulted in a conviction. On one occasion a tennis ball he
was carrying was described by police as an offensive weapon.
Despite his clean record the youth was refused bail over
Christmas, when he appeared before magistrates on burglary
charges, on the grounds that he would commit further
offences if granted bail. (Caribbean Times 15.1.91)
