Met Police to tackle vandalism, drugs and racial attacks

Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Kenneth Newman, in a special
report to the Home Secretary Leon Brittan, adds vandalism, drug
abuse and racial attacks to the force's crime fighting
priorities in 1985, after a year which, he projects, saw an 8%
rise in serious crime in London; Lambeth Community-Police
Consultative Group has reacted cautiously to today's drafting of
extra police into Brixton, one of several areas to be reinforced
to fight street crime and burglary.
