Manslaughter verdict for killer of Moroccan youth

The killer of the 16-year-old Moroccan youth, Hamito Ovamer, has
received a 6-year prison sentence for manslaughter. The Judge in
the case, and the police have denied that the killing was
racially motivated (De Volkskrant 24.12.92). Meanwhile, a
skinhead arrested in Eindhoven justified his assault on a 31-
year-old Somalian asylum seeker by saying he `disliked blacks'
(De Volkskrant 31.11.92).

Survey of Dutch children's attitudes to foreigners
A survey conducted on behalf of Dutch education authorities has
found that more than half of Dutch secondary schoolchildren
believe there are too many foreigners in the Netherlands (De
Volkskrant 24.12.92).
