Worrying trend in arson attacks

Asylum-seekers were forced to flee when arsonists set fire to the
Hotel Madisson in Wijk Aanzee. Slogans and a can containing
inflammable liquid were found at a Jewish cultural centre in
Amsterdam which was slightly damaged by fire. In Terneuzen, a
mosque and a Turkish cultural centre were set on fire. An arson
attack was also made on the residence of the chair of Refugee
Work (Het Parool 9.6.94, Volkskrant 6.5, 10,14.6.94).

Moroccan football fan attacked

A 26-year-old Moroccan student, travelling from Holland to
Germany to visit relatives, was attacked by German football
supporters, and suffered a broken nose and wounds from a knife.
Four Germans have been arrested (Volkskrant 6.6.94).

Far-Right councillor arrested for drug trafficking

H. Selhorst, a Centrum Demokraten councillor has been arrested
and charged with drug-related offences in Arnhem. His arrest came
after police surveillance following the evidence of a German man,
himself arrested for being in possession of heroin and cocaine.
Another CD member, an assistant to Mr. Selhorst, has been charged
with illegal possession of arms (Volkskrant 7.6.94).
