Claims that increased spending on police and prisons by the
Conservatives since they came to power has not resulted in the
expected reduction in crime. Considers possible future trends,
and suggests that a more practical and less rhetorical attitude
to the police and the courts is necessary, together with the
setting of more limited and attainable objectives. 7 references.
