Northampton defendants sentenced
artdoc July=1991

The use of black undercover police officers to carry out a
raid on the Matta Fancatta Movement Youth and Community Centre
in Northampton has led to some criticism of the role of black
police officers.
Members of the MFM and the local community have said that
police recruitment of black officers is not meant to provide
opportunities for black people but to spy on the black
community. In the words of MFM Chairman Horace Cohen, `They
simply want to use black people to police the black
community.'(Caribbean Times 27.11.90,18.12.90)
