"I work for the Binnenlandse Veiligheids Dienst (gloss. Internal
Security Service) and on the basis of our policy of openness we
aim to be more approachable." this is the present approach of the
BVD. The new openness is noticeable in everything the BVD do ,to
the point that the director is a regular face on Dutch
television. The question is however whether that much has really
changed at the BVD. "Opening van Zaken" (gloss. Opening Up
Affairs) is an alternative annual report on the BVD, looking at
the functioning of the service, such as approaches made by the
BVD, dismissals from the service, Intimidation, lack of clarity
and gross insinuations, in short, the day-to-day existence at
street level.
