PCs lose libel case

Two PCs have lost a libel case over a newspaper article that
described them as cowards and liars.
PC Brian Williams and Antony Baker of Devon and
Cornwall said that the story which appeared in The People in
November 1989 was unfounded and untrue. The article accused
the officers of standing by idly as two of their colleagues
were attacked during a New Years riot in Devon. (Guardian
30.1.91)
