Scotland Yard Assistant Commissioner Wyn Jones, who is already
subject to an investigation by the Home Secretary, is to be
questioned about a charity trip to Paris. Last June, Mr. Jones
drove to France to meet a team of officers who had rowed from
London for charity in a car loaned by Jaguar for the trip. It
is alleged that a week previously Mr. Jones had been the guest
of a senior Jaguar executive at the 24-hour Le Mans race
meeting.
An investigation into Wyn Jones was launched after his
telephone number was discovered in a raid on the London offices
of South Audley Management, which handles the personal finances
of Asil Nadir. Nadir, who faces fraud charges following the
collapse of his Polly Peck empire, denies knowing Mr. Jones

The Chief Constable of North Wales, David Owen, and his
deputy Eric Evans, are to face a police enquiry into
allegations of mismanagement carried out by Warwickshire's
Chief Constable, Peter Joslin. Mr. Owen is President of the
Association of Chief Police Officers. (Independent 23.2.91;

The Chief Constable of Humberside, David Halls, faces an
internal disciplinary inquiry into expenses he submitted after
business trips. In 1982, Hall was cleared of allegations of
misconduct after a formal investigation by a senior officer.
