Ã55,942 awarded to two landscape gardeners from New Zealand, for
assault, false imprisonment and malicious prosecution, after an
argument with an off-duty officer, PC Rodney Charles (now a
sergeant at Notting Hill) outside a pub in Earls Court (Guardian
17.11.92);

Ã10,005 awarded to Alphaeus Reid, 53, who lost five teeth in an
incident at Tulse Hill in 1988 (Independent 4.11.92);

Ã21,500 awarded to Stanley Dixon, football fan, in settlement
of claim for wrongful arrest and malicious prosecution. He was
arrested after a flare was thrown during a football match
(Guardian 15.12.92).
