While on bail for killing a man in self-defence at a party Winston Silcott was charged with the murder of a policeman during the Broadwater Farm uprising in north London in 1985. The Broadwater Farm conviction was overturned in 1991 but the Criminal Cases Review Commission is still "not minded" to refer the first case back to the Court of Appeal.
