Extensive report and comment on the bomb explosion at the Grand
Hotel, Brighton, where members of the Cabinet were staying
during the Conservative Party Conference. Sir Gordon Berry, MP
for Enfield Southgate, Jeanne Shattock, wife of the Western
Conservative Association Chairman, Eric Taylor, North West Area
Conservative Association Chairman, and Roberta Wakeham, wife of
the Government Chief Whip, were all killed. Margaret Tebbit and
Trade and Industry Secretary Norman Tebbit were among the
injured. The Provisional IRA has claimed responsibility.
Includes reports that military intelligence had issued a general
warning to police last Wednesday about possible terrorist action.
