Argues that the influx of women into the police force in the UK
will do much towards redeeming the current image of a force beset
with stories of corruption. Comments on the equal opportunities
issues and the skill shortages resulting from the decline in the
number of school leavers, and observes that it remains extremely
difficult for women to reach the highest ranks within the
service.
