Black British students allege police harassment

Two black British students studying in Barcelona have complained
about police racism and the level of identity checks they have
experienced. The university where they are studying has raised
the students' cases with the Barcelona police authorities and
described their treatment as `very considerable psychological
pressure' and `unacceptable'. A spokesperson for the local branch
of SOS Racisme says that in one recent case a Moroccan immigrant
was stopped six times in the space of an hour, twice by the same
policeman (Times Higher Educational Supplement 9.12.94).
