Spain: Prison hunger strike

A 48 hour hunger strike was carried out by 108 prisoners in Irunea (Pamplona) at the end of March. They were denouncing the living conditions in the prison, especially the lack of medical care and help for drug addicts. Such actions are rare and may be accounted for by the fact that "normal" prisoners are living alongside hundred of "insumisos" (young people in prison for refusing to do military service). Kontrola Kontrolpean, Donostia, Euskadi (Spain).
