Streatham police criticised for arrest
artdoc June=1991

A family of fast-food traders is blaming Streatham police for
the robbery of ¼10,000 worth of earnings from their van.
Members of the Banks' family had just returned home from a
carnival, where they had earned ¼10,000, and were trying to get
into their Streatham house when they were arrested by police
who charged them with burglary. The Banks were later released
when the police realized that they had been trying to get into
their own home. Meanwhile, however, the ¼10,000 worth of
earnings were stolen from the van as the family waited at the
police station. The police have refused to comment on the
case. (Voice 26.2.91)
