The Swedish Eurominster, Ulf Dinkelspiel, said that Sweden was ready to join the Schengen Agreement. However this could not happen while Denmark remained out the Agreement, he said the government had been in contact with the Schengen Secretariat and that their parliament would soon be presented with a statement concerning Swedish membership of Schengen. Denmark together with the UK and Ireland of the 12 EU states are not in the Schengen Agreement.
