Describes the housing problems of tenants living in council
property in the London borough of Tower Hamlets, with an account
of the series of workshops held between the DCH, LFTA and the
THTF and tenants on the various estates. The account is an edited
verbatim report of the workshop discussions that took place, in
1984-5, which are described as sometimes `provocative and
offensive' especially to the Asian tenants, but useful in
tackling the problems of housing and racism, in addition to
setting up an anti racist strategy for the tenants of Stepney.
Includes a catalogue of racial attacks between 1983 and 1986, and
concludes with the view that anti racist edicts and policies from
local authorities, the media and police have all contributed to
the racial problems on the estate. As a result of the workshops,
recommendations were drawn up.
