the training of the police officers and describes the work of
many of the departments including the Forensic Science
Laboratory , mounted police, traffic police, Thames Division and
the Helicopter Unit. The work of the women police,
Metropolitan Special Constabulary , and the Criminal
Investigation Department are also described. Various aspects of
policing are looked at, including the home beat officer,
public order in general and the attendance of police at occasions
such as the Notting Hill Carnival .
