One of Britain's longest serving miscarriage of justice victims was released in November 2002. Robert Brown had already served 25 years for murder by the time his conviction was declared unsafe by the Court of Appeal. Robert Brown was beaten into confessing to a crime he did not commit. Fibres from another suspect, picked out on ID parade, were known to have matched those found on the victim. Four years after Brown's conviction, the officer central to the case was jailed for four years for corruption. Guardian 19.10.02; Miscarriages of Justice UK: Miscarriages of Justice Organisation
