Watford Monitoring Group set up after claims of police brutality
artdoc May=1991

Watford's black community has set up its own police monitoring group,
named the Young Black Action Development Group, to protect its community
against alleged police brutality.
Police raids in Watford have targeted clubs and pubs frequented by
black locals, and in one recent incident, a black council employee
suffered injuries during an arrest (see Bulletin No. 64). He still
suffers dizziness and the paralysis of his hand and has been unable to
go back to work. He is now considering taking legal action. Meanwhile,
two officers have been suspended pending the outcome of an inquiry into
the incident. (Caribbean Times 18.9.90)
