Secrecy and transparency

States use secrecy to protect their interests and avoid scrutiny. As more powerful economic actors are engaged in law and policy, information is increasingly obscured. This lack of transparency prevents accountability and limits the ability to exercise our rights.

If we want change, we need ways to meaningfully influence policy. We need to know what governments and states are doing in our name.

We work to make sure we do, through monitoring, research, and investigations.
