Across Europe, states are increasing militarisation, surveillance, and repressive policies. They are entrenching their own power by controlling borders and silencing dissent. Most of it is happening behind closed doors, masked in secrecy and bureaucratic jargon.

These trends contribute to growing polarisation and inequality. They threaten our rights, democracy, and the movements working for a better society.

We are working to change direction. As activists, journalists and researchers, we expose state power and keep you informed.

Borders and frontiers Europe’s borders are becoming more violent, militarised, and surveilled. We report on policies and their effects to hold states accountable.

Coercion and control Rather than addressing systemic issues, states are resorting to more repressive means of control. We conduct research to make these measures known and fuel resistance to them.

Collusion and crime We expose crimes of the state and collusion with criminals. We work to bring justice into reach by giving campaigns and litigation a foundation to work from.

Discrimination and racism Fascism is on the rise. States across Europe and the UK are further entrenching discriminatory practices and fuelling racist acts of violence. We give folks the tools and information needed to resist.

Peace and war The market for war only benefits private tech, defence firms, and corrupt governments. We work to uncover the network of contracts and actors who profit from war, so that someday we might achieve peace.

Secrecy and transparency States use secrecy to protect their interests and avoid scrutiny. We work to make transparent what governments and states are doing through monitoring, research, and investigations.

Resistance and solidarity Cracking down on dissent undermines democracy and puts lives in danger. We expose these tactics and their illegitimacy. We work in solidarity with civil society, activists and dissidents to support their campaigns and advocacy.

Snooping and surveillance States across the world are increasing police powers and surveillance measures. We work to provide insight into how these systems work, expose their harms, and challenge their spread.
